Tips to maintain Oral Health during pregnancy – Pregnancy is a very exciting as well as busy time. There are so many changes going on in your body due to hormonals changes and your mouth is no exception for this. Good oral hygiene is extremely important during pregnancy. As the increase of hormone levels during pregnancy can cause dental problems to be intensified.

Good oral health is also very important for your baby .Some researchers have suggested that the serious stage of gum disease ,periodontitis could cause premature birth and low birth weight.

Here are few prevention to be kept in mind when you get pregnant:

  • Brush your teeth twice a day and after the meals if possible.
  • keep your teeth clean ,especially near your gumline
  • Floss your teeth daily.
  • If you suffer from morning sickness, repeatedly rinse your mouth with water and brush your teeth as often as possible to neutralize the acid caused by vomiting.
  • If brushing your teeth cause morning sickness ,rinse your mouth with water ,brush without tooth paste and follow with anti plaque fluoride mouth wash.
  • Eat a well balanced diet
  • Include plenty of Vit C and B12 in your diet.
  • Consult your dentist for help in controlling plaque and preventing gingivitis.
